HEIFER PROJECT INTERNATIONAL 

Since 1944 Heifer Project International (HPI) has been providing hungry families with sources of food rather than short term relief. HPI is an ecumenical, non-profit organization which works in partnership to alleviate hunger and poverty by helping families become self-sufficient for food and income on a sustainable basis. HPI projects include providing animals, training and technical assistance to low-income families in 40 countries and 12 states. HPI provides 18 different kinds of food and income-producing animals, as well as intensive training in animal husbandry, community development, and ecologically sound and environmentally sustainable agricultural methods.
