The
Festival of Sharing is a yearly event sponsored by the West Ohio
Conference at the Clark County Fairgrounds. On one Saturday a year
several thousand United Methodists come together to share in fun,
food, fellowship and worship. It is designed to collect money to
support programs that minister to the needs of the hungry and
homeless.
Food and money raised during the
year for many ministries are reported on at the Festival. Many
programs are listed including the Hunger Network in Ohio, the Potato
Project, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Habitat for Humanity,
Volunteers in Mission, Bread for the World, Church World Service/CROP,
Crowe’s African Mission Projects, Heifer Project International,
Bishops’ Appeal for Africa, Defiance District Corn Project, Grace
Children’s Hospital,
Our church supports the
Enon Emergency Relief and
Interfaith Hospitality Network during the year. In addition we
also make up Health, School, and Baby Kits for use by Church World
Service and take them to the Festival. We also provide baked goods
for the Festival auction. You can help with any of the above projects
by contacting our Outreach Chairpersons, Todd and April Lewis, or the
Minister.
In 2002 our total for the Festival
of Sharing tally sheet was $5,532.50. That included contributions for
the Enon Emergency Relief, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Golden
Acres Migrant Ministry, Clark County Jail Chaplain and Project Woman
both from special offerings and through the Outreach Budget. Also
included were 17 Health Kits, 38 School Kits and 5 Layettes for Church
World Service, $553 for the Bishops Appeal for Africa and $600 to
support Festival of Sharing expenses.
