Adopt-A-Family Christmas
Auction
The community conducts an
annual Adopt-a-Family program at Christmas time. The program is
administered by the Enon Emergency Relief and
matches families who need assistance with churches, organizations, and
families who are willing to provide help.
Our church has adopted
families since the program began. In 2001 our church adopted 12
families. A tree with ornaments containing the family number, age,
item desired and appropriate size or color information for each person
is placed in the church. People can then select a person/gift
combination. In addition food is collected for four Sundays to split
among the families. Finally, to buy added food and gifts, money is
raised through an Adopt-A-Family auction. People donate handmade items
which are auctioned off. Pictures of our 2002 auction, held on
November 22nd at the church, can be found
here. That auction raised $4,500 for the program.
You can participate by
providing a handmade item(s) to auction and attending the November
auction. In addition you can help in sorting, assembling, and
delivering the food and presents to the adopted families. The program
will be advertised in the Parish Voice and Sunday bulletins or you can
contact the Outreach chairperson or the Pastor for more information.
